STEVE MOZENA ATTENDS CATHOLIC CHURCH ALMOST EVERY DAY:
Locally, you can spot his commitment to God at 8:00 a.m. weekday Mass at either St. Joseph's Catholic Church or Our Lady of Refuge.
But STEVE MOZENA'S involvement goes way back to when he attended his Catholic school K-12, and later, when he was an altar server in fifth grade at St. Mary Magdelena Church in Portland, Oregon.
His father was as a lector and a usher in their local Catholic church where all the Mozenas not only attended the church but the adjacent Catholic elementary school as well where all 8 Mozena children were students. All the Mozena children were educated in Catholic schools through high school, and two of them obtained their undergraduate college degrees from Catholic universities. Moreover, The MOZENAS, a family of eight, would almost always be in the front row at every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation Masses.
In college, STEVE MOZENA began to participate more in his church as a lector at churches like St. Francis Catholic Church in Portland to St. John Fisher in Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA, where he participates even today.
STEVE MOZENA has sung in the choirs of many Catholic churches from St. Monica's Catholic Church in Santa Monica, CA to St. Mark's Catholic Church in Venice Beach, CA. While at St. Mark's not only did STEVE MOZENA sing an awesome Christmas solo, but he donated much needed microphones to the choir."
Monsignor Torgerson of St. Monica's Catholic church and Monsignor Sork of St. John Fisher Catholic church know STEVE’s commitment to his father as well. Fr. Ken Deasy and Fr. Michael Rocha also know it too. Pastor Morales of Our Lady of Refuge and Pastor Hailey of St. Joseph's all respect Steve's commitment to the faith by attending their weekday masses.
STEVE was always there for the many outreach programs by the Catholic church, including St. Monica's annual Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless, providing food and support for many needy men, women, and children when he was member of the church.
Moreover, the day Steve and Lucille's daughter was born, Monsignor Torgerson came to Santa Monica Hospital and gave their newly born child, Arista, a blessing.
STEVE MOZENA still participates in his home Catholic church as a lector, a singer, an usher, and parking lot attendant. In fact, his daughter became an altar server a couple of years ago, and STEVE MOZENA enjoys the Sunday family time when he lectors and his daughter is an altar server at the same Mass sharing their commitment to their faith.
STEVE MOZENA deserves to be Long Beach Mayor because every day he shows his commitment to his faith, which includes working for the benefit of not just a few but for everyone.
